The Biophysical Modulation of Mammalian Cell & Tissue Function Laboratory combines mammalian cell and tissue models with applied engineering and biochemical/molecular techniques to decipher the cellular biophysical milieu, its effect on cell/tissue function, and explore how can it be controlled to obtain desirable functional outcomes. A detailed characterization of the cell and tissue biophysical environment is obtained by using experimental, analytical, and numerical simulation techniques.
Research interests and activities are in the broad area of Biofluid Dynamics, Cell Mechanics, Mechanotransduction, Cell and Tissue Engineering, Microgravity Research, Cell Bioreactor Design, and Bioelectromagnetism at the cell and molecular level.
